1. The 21th  Vesoul International  Film Festival of  Asian Cinema will take place from 10th to 17th February 2015.

2. The Festival aims to promote Asian Films and through them, the culture of countries from the Near East to the Far East.

3.The selection of 21th Vesoul International Film Festival of Asian Cinema will hold about 75 features films and 15 documentaries. There is no entry fee.

 About 8 to 10 features films unreleased in France will be selected for the official competition, 8 to 10 documentaries unreleased in France and of 60 minutes maximum duration will be selected for the official competition

Others films, feature, documentaries and video will be introduced in the non competitive sections.

Each feature film selected in the competition section will be screened twice.

4. Conditions of Participation

To enter for the selection, the films must be directed by an Asian director, and/or produced in an Asian country or introduce a theme related to countries from the Asian continent.

5.The films must be registered at the latest by 20th November  2014, on the entry form available at the festival office or on the web site along with :

  • a DVD of the film in French or in English
  • a synopsis in French or in English
  • a press reviews with a note of intention from the director
  • -photos of  the director and of the film to be printed  in the catalogue and the press, posters if available
  • a biography and filmography of the director


6 Selected Films

     - subtitling : Prints should be French subtitled if possible. Otherwise, prints should be English subtitled and the Festival will undertake an electronic French subtitling. In such case, the English subtitled DVD corresponding to the print, the list of English subtitles and if possible the list of English dialogues should be sent to the Festival as soon as possible. This electronic subtitling will belong to the Festival

     - transportation of the films : the freight cost both ways will be covered by the producer or by the director.

The print must be reach the festival office by 25 th January  2015.

The directors will send their prints :

     - to their country’s Embassy in France (via diplomatic bag) in which case the prints must be addressed to Vesoul International Film Festival of Asian Cinema.

   - to our shipping agent via their shipping agent entitled to do the custom clearance at their own coast, if the print comes from abroad

     - or to the Festival Office if the print is already in France

On the packing box of the film must be clearly mentioned:  the title of the film, the name and the address of the director, total footage and duration of the film, number of reels included.   

The prints of the selected films will be sent back later 8 days after the end of the Festival to the shipping address given by the director, at the cost of director/producer.

7. Awards

The Festival management selects an official international Jury whose members will award the “Cyclo d’Or” (Golden Cyclo) granted by The "Region de Franche-Comté" the Grand Award of the Jury to the director(s) for the best feature film and a special mention.

The Audience award is granted by the city of Vesoul  to the director for the best feature film.

The Emile Guimet award will be granted by the Guimet Museum society to the best director of a feature or documentary film. The awarded films will be screened in the Guimet Museum auditorium, on April 2015. In case the concerned 35mm print could not be available at that time, a video show will be organised on the big screen (Digital Beta, Beta SP or DVD). This material should be handled to the Festival organisers by the end of the festival.

The INALCO (Oriental Language University Department) award will be granted to the best director of a feature film.
The awarded films will be screened in the INALCO auditorium (Paris) on September 2015

The NETPAC (Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema) award will be granted to the best director of a feature film.

The youth jury will give a CCAV prize to the director of the awarded documentary film. The audience prize granted by the CCAV will be awarded to a documentary film.

The amount of each award will be decided shortly.

The festival request the producer or distributor of the awarded film(s) to mention the award(s) in the credit list of the film and generally on all promotion material of the film.

 

8. Insurance

The Festival bears the coasts of insurance during the festival.

In the case of damage or loss, the Festival is liable only for the cost of replacement of the print (an attestation describing the quality of the print will be made at the reception of the print – if there is damage, it will be notified by fax or letter. In such case, no claim will be taken into consideration).

 

9. Attendance of directors

The Festival, as far as its budget allows it, will invite the director or the actor of the selected films : full accomodation and travel expenses (air plane – and/or train). The festival has the right to decide upon the best possible itinerary for the invited guest and full accommodation.

 

The festival decides the screening dates of the film. The invited directors (or representative of the films) are expected to attend a press conference and meet the audience before and after each screening of his/her films.

 

10. Media and Television

Participating in the festival implies the permission for the use of stills and inserts (less than 3 minutes) for all publications of the festival, press and Television Broadcasting.

 

The Festival management is entitled, in case of serious major reasons decided by the Festival, to delay, cancel or stop the manifestation.

Participation in the Festival implies unreserved acceptance of the terms of the present regulation (Only French regulation will have force of law).
